Questions & Answers

Where is the Chateau? | Exact address: La Bouillerie, Route de Bazouges, 72200 Crosmières, France.

How do I get there? | For all things travel, visit this page.

What time do I need to arrive? What time do I need to leave? | You are welcome to arrive at the Chateau any time on Friday May 21 or Saturday May 22. Please tell Shaylin and Kathryn your arrival time and we will coordinate picking you up from the local train station. We have to check out of the Chateau by 11AM on Friday May 28.

Is there going to be a ceremony? | There will not be a wedding ceremony. We will be privately eloping just before the trip to France — this trip is the first time we will be seeing everyone as the newly married Hawco’s. This is our reception and our party! There will be a formal dinner, complete with a photographer, speeches, fancy food, wine, and cake to kick off the trip. This will be our main gathering.

What should I pack? | Please bring at least one formal outfit that you would like to be photographed in. Consider also bringing clothes for outdoor activities (like tennis on the grounds), a swimsuit for the on-property pool, and comfortable clothes for lounging around the Chateau (there’s a movie room!).

What’s the weather going to be like? | This part of France at the end of May averages around 20 degrees during the day and 10 degrees at night, with mostly sun, though rain is possible.

Is there a dress code for the formal dinner? | The dress code is photo-ready formalwear. Please do not wear white (that’s for us).

Is there an itinerary or scheduled activities? | Monday’s dinner is the trip’s main event and the only must-attend event. Besides this, there are no scheduled activities. Shaylin and Kathryn will be booking some tours and activities that people can optionally join, and will share those details accordingly.

Do I have to stay for the whole time? | No! We know that people are busy with kids, work, school, or other commitments. Monday May 24 is the main event and the only must-attend date. After that, you are free to stay as long as you like until May 28, or leave early whether to go home or to take a personal vacation elsewhere in Europe. You will not hurt our feelings if you leave early.

Should I bring anything special? | We encourage everyone to bring cameras, journals, or whatever else you like to use to capture memories!

Who else is going? | The brides’ closest family and friends will be attending on both sides. The Chateau can sleep a maximum of 25 people, and the dinner will be 25-30 guests.

What do I have to pay for? | You are responsible for your own airfare, meals (outside of breakfasts and the main dinner) and pocket money for activities and shopping. We are providing the Chateau, main dinner, and breakfasts for everyone attending.
